Pain, Pain Go Away

There are certain aspects of the human experience that are inevitable to each of us. Regardless of culture, borders, race, religion, age or sex we will, at some point, come face to face with pain. It is something that makes us human, that can connect us on deeper sympathetic levels, and that can sometimes be so prominent that it makes it impossible to forget. I am sure as you are reading this you can recall the most painful physical experiences you've suffered to this point, and those experiences may only become clouded by something else more painful down the line.

This unavoidable piece of human existence has led us to develop a number of products that are synergystically blended to help bring relief to some of the most common, yet all-together unique occurrences of pain. Pain caused by arthritis, lumbago, rheumatism, muscular sprain or strain, tendinitis, myalgia, neuralgia, and other areas of inflammation in joints, muscles, and tendons.
I will caveat this with my own experiences with pain and as a skeptic. As a fairly healthy 24-year-old my pain experience is limited to those caused by exercise, sports injuries, and muscle fatigue, and my skepticism came from a place of feeling like the only solution to these problems were water, stretching, rest, and the occasional icing. While I still agree that being hydrated, staying "flexy," resting when your body is fatigued, and icing to keep down swelling are all important aspects of pain management, the part of me that felt I just had "grin and bear it" while waiting for my body to heal itself has dissipated.

This change of heart came from using a product we have in our shop (before I even worked here!)- Phyto-Flex Treatment Lotion. The sweet release of pain was almost instant as was my change of heart. Easily explainable with Essential Oils like Camphor and Wintergreen that activate receptors that help block sensations of pain, the topical analgesic result was, in fact, immediate. Following those ingredients Peppermint Essential Oil blends really well with Wintergreen providing a result much stronger than each topical analgesic alone. The peppermint also brought a cooling sensation, but was followed by the Majoram that has a comforting warming sensation, and helps to loosen up tense muscles. Both of these oils, plus the added Cajeput, Clove, and Helichrysum are used to treat pain from arthritis, joint pain, tendinitis, muscular spasms and soreness, lumbago, neuralgia.... you get the point.
To test my hypothesis I followed up my experience by asking a friend of mine who suffers from Lupus to use it to help bring relief to her joint pain. Instant success. There is a reason this is one of our most popular products we have, and that it is in such a high demand that we often have new stock flying off our shelves as soon as we get it.

This particular recipe isn't for everyone though. Wintergreen and Camphor should never be used with women who are pregnant, or wanting to become pregnant, and young children. You should also avoid this product if you experience skin sensitivities. Instead of this recipe we offer another Phyto-Flex Treatment. This lotion is a blend of Black Pepper, Juniper, Cajeput, and Peppermint Essential Oils, and offers comparable pain relief properties as well as boosting circulation to help rid the muscles of lactic acid, aiding in recovery especially for athletes.

Beyond that we also offer a topical Ortho-Flex Spice lotion and Ortho-Flex Spice essential oil blend. This blend is comprised of ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and rosemary essential oils to boost circulation, flush out lactic acid, and speed up the recovery process for muscles which make it a great tool for athletes to use. We also highly recommend this blend for hip and joint pain, but do note the stimulating effect might not be the desired result for someone with rheumatism or arthritis pain. The Essential Oil blend allows for versatility of use giving you the capability of adding it to our Coconut Emulsifier to make it water soluble, then adding 10-12 drops for a bath or a foot soak. I also recommend adding in Epsom Salt to help draw out toxins and reduce inflammation. You can also make a compress to address muscle stiffness by using the same base carrier and dilution (as for the bath) and heating water to a warm, but not boiling temperature, and dipping in a wash cloth or piece of flannel and applying it to affected area.

Including the Spice blend, we also offer an Ortho-Flex Ice blend, Ortho-Flex Extra, and Ortho-Flex Original, and a pre-diluted roll-on version of our Ortho-Flex Extra which you can find out more about each of these through this link below:

If you are someone suffering from chronic pain, and looking for more long-term and consistent relief- because who has the time to lather every couple hours- then I highly recommend supplementing our creams with our Phyto-FlexHerbal Supplement. A combination of MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane), Yucca Extract, and Glucosamine to reduce inflammation and pain. While not immediate, the supplements tend to be more effective for long-term use and have more staying power over time. While the topical applications can bring more immediate relief there can be negative long-term effects of using Wintergreen and Camphor regularly.
