The Story of Triumph

When I first began my journey in Aromatherapy several years ago I was overwhelmed with all of the different essential oils and combinations available to me. As I learned more about each oil and as I continued my education I knew that custom blending for customers was going to be an aspect of my day to day work that would bring me a lot of joy.

As I approach any new adventure in my life I learned a lot of lessons through trial and error and used my friends and family to try out my different creations. Sometimes I failed in my blends, creating scents that were unpleasant or unwanted. But one of my first victories was a blend I made specifically for my partner which I call the "Triumph" blend.

This blend was originally created to be a more masculine fragrance that would help with meditation and provide a sense of comfort and openness of emotions. Sandalwood is a commonly known essential oil that can benefit the process of meditation and is often associated with masculinity and men's fragrances. Unfortunately Sandalwood essential oil is rather expensive. So I looked to Cedarwood as an alternative. I like Cedarwood, Atlas because I feel it has a more complex aroma. The sweet and woodsy fragrance of Cedarwood is one of my favorites because it can be grounding and balancing and provides a sense of comfort when facing new or intimidating elements in your life.

The next element of the blend I was looking for was something to help bring a sense of cleanliness and purity. I enjoy the aromas of many of the evergreens and while doing my research I found that Fir Needle essential oil can help with relationships and intuition. This oil is a good choice for people who feel they have an emotional block and will fortify their sense of security when meeting new people. I also love the "woodsy" aroma and how it complemented the Cedarwood oil so well.

Finally I wanted something to add to the blend that gave a little bit of brightness and sweetness without going into the floral category. I knew that a citrus aroma would blend well with the oils I already had included into my blend and I found my inspiration while reminiscing about a vacation my partner and I took together early on in our relationship. Key West, Florida may be one of the most beautiful tropical getaways in the mainland of the U.S.A. and I will always cherish the time I spent there snorkeling, doing yoga on the beach, and of course eating Key Lime Pie. Lime essential oil immediately takes me back to that wonderful vacation and I felt it was a perfect fit for a blend I was making. Lime essential oil has a sunny sweetness to it that also provides a bit more masculine aroma than some of the other citrus oils.

I now had my three oils selected and I began the process of creating a blend.... one drop at a time.
I worked on several small batches diluted into some Jojoba oil so I could get a sense of the fragrance and when I was finished I felt a sense of triumph!

This blend has followed me throughout my life over the last several years and I was honored when my barber approached me about suggestions for his shop. I immediately recommended this blend to him and it is one he uses daily!

I also gave small vials of this blend as party favors at my wedding. The special full-circle relationship with this essential oil blend seemed like kismet considering I developed it for my partner who later became my spouse!

I recently made a full 1/2 ounce batch for our custom blend Friday video and decided to diffuse it in my shop since I had some available and I have already received a few compliments only hours after running it through my diffuser.

Enjoy this recipe for the Time Laboratories atomizing jet diffuser as well as a simpler version of the blend for other diffusers that only use drops of oil diluted in water.
