For the Ladies

Ladies, this one is for you. Many of us know that the worst symptoms from our period don't wait until it is literally, "that time of month" but impact our skin, our mood, and our overall health days before we ever see that first spot of red- yeah, we are going there.

We see it in the pimples that pop up on our chin, or the lethargy we feel throughout the day, and even for some of us the depression that consumes our minds out of the blue. Yes, there is cramping and bloating, maybe headaches and back pain, and we do it EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH until it blows up in our face like a supernova, then gently fades away, in a big dramatic stint that reminds us that our fertility has expired. WOW. Yay us. It is a blessing and curse to have the beauty of bringing life into the world with the burden of all the times we can't, and how our body copes with the times "in between" creation.

Maybe you take Pamprin for the cramps, Ibuprofen for the pain, you satiate your cravings with sweets, and you follow the philosophy of "treat yourself" during the times when you just can't fathom doing anything else, like working out and eating healthy.

Unfortunately, this attitude only treats some of the symptoms AND perpetuates the cycle of poor food choices, acne, and overall misery.

SO...... what do?

If you're like me, overwhelmed with choices, underwhelmed with success, and rather than fight the good fight, you've given in to the ebbs and flows of your reproductive organs- you might think there is no hope.

I am here to tell you there is- and you too can combat your premenstrual ailments. It doesn't happen in a day, or a month, but overtime, taking care of the little things and adding scientifically proven herbal supplements to support overall women's health can help curb the effect these "monthly ailments" have on my body, mind, and spirit.

I will caveat this with- every woman is different, so every method or remedy has different impacts on overall health. If you want a specific plan that doesn't involve heavy pharmaceuticals, but takes an overall, integrative health approach I recommend getting in touch with one of our Health Professionals within the EIMCenter. A personalized approach will be most effective in addressing issues not only with reproductive health, but will take a look at the full endocrine system, diet, lifestyle, and previous health history to come up with an overall ideal approach to your needs as an individual.

With that being said there are herbal and natural products that are known to help remedy many of the symptoms and problems usually associated with these bodies we have been #blessed and #cursed with.

Fem Ease Support Cream & Fem Ease Herbal Supplement

Both our Herbal Supplement and Support cream contain Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) which has traditionally been used to treat ovarian pain commonly associated with periods and menopause. Along with Wild Yam, it also includes other herbal extracts like Sage (Salvia officinalis), sarsparilla (Smilax aspera) root extract, alfalfa (Medicago sativa), and Evening Primrose (Oenanthera biennis) oil, which are, in short, herbs that are valued for their effects on women's reproductive health, relieving pain associated with cramping, and help reduce water retention (bloating). You can apply the cream directly to the impacted area, but also to areas of skin that are thinner, helping it reach your blood stream effectively, like the elbow pits of your arms. The capsule form can be taken daily, as suggested on the bottle. 1

Bilberry Extract (Vaccinium myrtillus)

Research shows that Bilberry can improve circulation that can help relieve pain associated with cramping and fluid retention. Traditionally, it has also been used to help promote weight loss and protect against tissue damage that leads to osteoarthritis. 1

Chaste Tree Extract (Vitus agnus castus)

This herbal remedy has been used in Western medicine to help regulate the menstrual cycle allowing
women to have a better understanding of their ovulation cycle. It also has been touted on its pro-estrogen action which can help relieve symptoms like acne, moodiness, and headaches. Regulating your cycle can go a long way for preventing unexpected pregnancies or helping to open the window for wanted ones. It is also thought that a well-regulated cycle decreases the risk for poly-cystic ovary syndrome, fibroids, and endometriosis.1

Other than herbal supplements we always recommend other products of ours for skincare, pain, and overall improved mental health.

Things like our Bulgarian Rose Hydrolat is enjoyed by women for a hydrating and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin that helps fight acne, dryness, and other
skin irritations.

Essential Oils like Clary Sage, Geranium, Rose Otto (pour to order), and Jasmine are also thought to be helpful to bring relief for ailments like cramping, water retention, irritability, and hormonal imbalance.

It is also generally accepted that these oils can provide some emotional and mental health support by acting as an antidepressant and/or anti-anxiety. 2

I love being female. I wouldn't trade it for the world. We are strong, we are sensitive, we are passionate, we are beautiful, we are brave, we nurturing, and we provide the foundation for life not only in our ovaries, but within our souls. Humankind thrives off the nature of womanhood and motherhood, but man, sometimes it's nice to not have it hurt so bad.
